Prison Ministry

Welcome to COGOP Knowle West“I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.”  Matthew 25:43

Our church has been involved in chaplaincy work at Her Majesty’s Prison Bristol, known locally as Horfield Prison, for over 20 years. HMP Bristol receives male prisoners and a limited number of young offenders, both convicted and remand, from all local Courts, as well as being a Category B facility for the West of England, having a capacity for over 600 inmates.

We feel that it is vital to minister to these inmates, particularly the young, not forgetting the staff of the prison. This work involves conducting about six services a year, as well as visits at Christmas and other special occasions.

Our team, lead by Evangelist Gloria Morris, of about six to eight members work in conjunction with the excellent chaplaincy team at HMP Bristol.
