PASTOR’S PROFILE
Pastor Bernard Morris is a committed man of God.
Dedicated to family, a strong work ethic and a burning passion to change lives by introducing them to the impact Christ can have on their lives has been an unfolding mission for the past 30 years.
Born and raised into a Christian home, Pastor Bernard gave his life to Christ aged 13 adding his personal experience to the foundation that had been laid by his parents Deacon and Evangelist Joseph and Gloria Morris.
His leadership skills were recognised early with roles that encompassed Sunday school teaching, youth working and work in the treasury department.
This early work soon gained regional and national recognition, as he went on to become the regional District Youth Director, (South West & Wales) aged 23, which involved Organising Youth Conventions, speaking at local churches and the responsibility for the development of youth leaders.
This was soon followed by an appointment to be National Youth Director for the Church of God of Prophecy (England & Wales) aged 27. This involved travelling throughout England & Wales, USA and Europe, directing Youth Camps and Retreats, Youth Conferences as well as other high profile speaking engagements.
With a strong in-built work ethic, Bernard has pursued a professional career as an Accountant that has seen him gain experience in a variety of sectors, most notably the NHS where he has risen to senior level as a Divisional Financial Manager whilst maintaining a framework of ongoing personal and professional development. He is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and holds the Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
A strong family upbringing has continued in Bernard’s personal life and he is happily married to Maureen Morris, a graduate of Leicester University and currently a teacher at Bristol’s renowned St Mary Redcliffe School.
The couple have 3 children Janine (18 yrs), Jordan (16 yrs) and Julia (14 yrs).
In 1995 Bernard answered the call to become Senior Pastor in Knowle West, Bristol aged 33 years. His responsibilities include pastoral care, teaching, preaching and development of a fellowship of some 50 people of all age ranges, working with the Knowle West Churches Together and as a Prison minister.
As a family man, professional, keen guitarist with a love of Jazz and classical music, long-time Arsenal fan and avid reader, Bernard Morris reflects the qualities that make good leaders.
One of his favourite scriptures which has greatly impacted his life is Ephesians 3:20, 21, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.”
